The Maine Blue Collar Scholarship’s mission is to provide assistance to motivated individuals pursuing a career in the trades. Moody’s is a proud sponsor and very involved as part of the team We want to break down barriers and reinvigorate the trades that built America. Each year we offer scholarships & “toolships” to individuals entering the trades. We had over 200 applications this year and with the support of many businesses we were able to award $75,000 in scholarships to 82 future trades people.
Scholarship recipients are from all over the state and represent a multitude of the trades-some traditional and some less traditional. The trades represented were: auto + collision repair, building construction, electrical, precision machining, welding, plumbing, EMT, medical, logging, diesel mechanics, power sports, fire science and metal fabrication.
The scholarships awarded ranged in amounts from $500 to $2,500. The recipients can use them to cover the cost of tuition to a community college /trade school or they can use it to buy needed tools & equipment.
